Here is a first look at the new enhanced case design already in production for the AIS-ILIS1 electrospray thruster! Taking lessons from the recent ignition test and subsequent post-test thruster analysis, the case design needed major rework to minimize liquid bridging issues and tracking along the case. As a result, plastic surrounding the emitter has been completely opened up to significantly reduce chances of shorting due to liquid bridging and tracking from droplet spray and pooling during operation when not operating in pure ionic emission mode.
In addition to the case redesign, the extractor is currently undergoing major rework, as well as some updates are being made to the board. Further details will come out as I progress!
